About

The ART Scene is Vision+Visuals' online community. About The Art Scene: Originating from the San Francisco Bay Area. A devoted love for the art and dedication to the industry itself, “The Art Scene” was created as an antidote to the increasingly need of public relations for the emerging artists and the art community. We have the ability to focus on the emerging artist' talent, manage his/her creative endeavor to the fullest extent. “The Art Scene” is founded with the vision that art brings people together harmoniously as an educational or a healing tool that raises social awareness. Art is meant to be enjoyed, savored, treasured by every human being. As an independent boutique art agency, “The Art Scene” is built on the principle of providing truly personal management and sensible service, we are a molding factory of innovative creative resources. We encourage our talented artists to express their passion in art to pursue success by means of sharing their wonderful works to inspire the public both locally and globally. antonveenstra Annual group show at MOCA DC Washington DC; currently a work in the B & W show: art statement: "I am an artist living in Sydney, Australia. Like Americans, Aussies consider ourselves the new world. My mum was born in Slovenia, northern Yugoslavia. In 2003 I travelled there. Her father had moved from Trieste, Italy to a village near Hungary. So, in the company of the curator of migrant communities from the Slovene Ethnographic Museum I went to Trieste to see its marginalised Slovenian community.

antonveenstra NEVER FELT A WOUND Christian hagiography is so meshed with western culture that the attributes of saints became metaphorical, tropes of feeling. Thus Sebastian represented suffering transcended during the AIDS epidemic. This collage pays homage to El Greco's Sebastian in the Prado Madrid. Each button is a name, a ghost, always with us.

antonveenstra Reprisal Freude [Helicopter nears Mosque] examines the various attitudes we have formed post Sept 11 2001, about collateral damage in countries [namely fundamentalist Moslem] we consider hostile to a western lifestyle. US media especially have created scenarios combining shadenfreude [delight at another's misfortune] and esprit d'escalier, or being wise after the event. Neither constructs positive future outcomes, both are delinquent, part of a global psychic healing post 9.11.01.
antonveenstra Last year I got included in a Mini art textile event in Como Italy; just found out it goes to Paris, Montrouge Feb 6- 26; thence to Venice during the Venice Biennale, 4 June- 29 August at the Museum of Palazzo Mocenigo. The work is on my website www.antonveenstra.com gal 6.
antonveenstra Watched a dvd The Libertine with Johnny Depp, about John Wilmot the Earl of Rochester; a Restoration gent, poet, drunk and major shagger, died of the pox at 33. English culture at the moment is running a debate about why the stage is and was so important; from Shakespeare on, the political climate was so deadly that life was intensely schizophrenic, honesty could only be found in fiction; it's that great camp book title: the lie that tells the truth. Shakespeare when I first read him as an
antonveenstra While my studio work of 30 years has been designing weaving tapestry and object assembly I'm training as a chef; I love cooking but also in terms of the ideological idioms current in today's art scene, cheffing is great performance art, it's also a vibrant interaction between artist and commissioning public.
